Modality and syntactic configurations: The verb tryabva in Bulgarian

Abstract: The article aims to identify relevant features that mark different types of modality in constructions with the Bulgarian modal verb tryabva followed by a da clause. Syntactic patterns formed with the impersonal verb tryabva are analysed in terms of their degree of syntactic transparency.
